#ChloeGoesSummer – Week 16

Another week, another update…

MONDAY – DE MARQUET
After a one-day-weekend, Monday somehow felt just as bad as always. I felt a bit “groggy”, but once we got the first image of our very successful foto shoot the day before, I was wide awake.
I am honestly so excited for our new brand to be launched on September 15th and I can’t wait to share all the details with you.
For now, I can just tell you that we are producing wonderful accessories for the modern day power woman…
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY – GIRL POWER!
The entire week was all about work and getting things done in time for the big launch event. Unfortunately – or rather, luckily – we also have a few other projects going on at the same time, which all have a deadline around our launch date. It’s always good to have a lot to do – at least you know why you’re tired at the end of the day – but I wouldn’t mind having a few more days in between all our events. But that would be too easy, wouldn’t it?
Thank goodness my boss and I are a great team and we’ll manage everything that will come our way – girl power all the way!
THURSDAY – DATE NIGHT
Thursday has started becoming mine and my friend Laura’s “date night”. As we both love going out to have dinner, we sometimes get together on Thursday nights to enjoy some good food and nice company. I really enjoy these little get togethers, as we get to catch up on the latest gossip and get our fix of lovely food at the same time…
This week we went to Tibits, ate healthy food, sat outside and enjoyed the lovely weather. It was really all I needed to get my head off work and into a more relaxed place…
FRIDAY – ZURICH
One of my dearest friends from Uni – Jessy – was in Zurich for a few days, so I simply had to go see her. We hadn’t seen each other for about a year and had a lot of catching up to do. So as soon as I was done with work at noon, I hopped on the train to go see her.
We walked around town and decided to get a drink in a little café. Once we asked for the bill, the waiter let us know that the drinks would be on him that day and we accepted, after a lot of discussion. He must have overheard our complaints about the entire male population of this planet and decided that he could maybe make us change our mind. He didn’t quiet succeed, but he definitely got some points for his chivalrous act…
After this little interlude, we decided to head to the Unterer Letten, a public swimming pool at the Limmat, where we lay in the sun and went swimming in the river. It was actually kinda scary, because the Unterer Letten is separated from the canal by a wall and a grid is placed at the end of the area that belongs to the public pool. However, as you are swimming in a river, the current keeps pushing you further and the grid stops you in your tracks, which basically means you are trapped like a fish in a net.
Jessy and I decided that we didn’t want to be pushed against that grid, so we always took the very last exit before we would bang into the metal rods, but there were quiet a few people who didn’t seem bothered by the fact they were pushed against this immovable obstacle – everyone their own, I guess…
One of Jessy’s lovely friends came by and even brought us cold Prosecco to cheers to the weekend – it seemed that this was the day of free drinks and we didn’t mind at all.
Once the sun started setting over the Limmat, we decided to head to the Rundfunk party, which took place in the court of the Landesmuseum. It was a beautiful mix of modern and old architecture and we enjoyed listening to great music under the stars.
I hadn’t been sure if I would stay at Jessy’s over night, but spontaneously decided to take the last train back home to get a good night’s sleep in my own bed and once I actually arrived home, I happily went to sleep…
SATURDAY – SUGAR
On Saturday, I actually made it to my training, something that hadn’t happened that much this week, due to the heavy workload and the lack of good night’s sleep.
I went to The White Rabbit and actually enjoyed working out again. I had been missing my workouts this week, but because I was so busy, I really didn’t manage to fit in more trainings. My favorite static bike was waiting for me in the usual spot and off we went for a good workout…
The rest of Saturday was all about Sugar, as my mom and I went to the dernière of Sugar – Some like it hot – at the Thunerseespiele. The Thunerseespiele are a musical production that plays a new musical on the shores of the Thunersee every year.
My mom and I both enjoy watching musicals greatly and we have seen quiet a few pieces at the Thunerseespiele already, so we were very excited when we managed to get some tickets for the last show of the season.
The play was about two guys who had to hide amongst a female jazz band, because they were chased by gangsters. Sugar – the main lead of the band – was looking for love and of course, a lot of twists and turns happened along the way, before she found it…
It was a very humorous and entertaining play and we were very lucky with the weather, which stayed good until the play was over. There were quite a few lightnings coming down on the mountains around the lake, but nothing touched the stage, which was very fortunate.
Next year, the Thunerseespiele will be presenting Cats, one of my favorite musicals and even though I have already seen it three times in the past, I am contemplating going to see it again, this time on the beautiful stage on the shore of the lake…
SUNDAY – SLOTH MODE
I did not sleep well. I seem to be having nightmares every night lately and I don’t really know how I can get rid of them. They are about a variety of things, but I have a pretty good idea where they’re coming from. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about the source of them, so I simply hope they’ll be going away soon.
I mean, last night I dreamt that I was at a weird school camp, then ran over a skunk with a motor bike – mind you, I don’t actually know how to ride a bike – and then, I went to a club and got robbed by a lady of the night. Yes, you may call the medics to put me away now, as I have clearly gone mad.
But as Alice already said: “You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”
After a rough wake-up, I went to a thrift market with my mom, as we both love finding little treasures. It turned out to be way too hot to spend too much time there and so we decided to walk back to our car, which we had parked further away, as there was no available parking nearby. On the way back, we got a Gelateria di Berna ice cream and totally justified getting one by telling ourselves we deserved it after the long walk back to our car – you gotta treat yourself sometimes, don’t you?
I had planned to go training after, but it was so hot that day that I literally couldn’t move anymore, so I decided to give myself a break. It was Sunday after all and the 33°C didn’t motivate me to get inside the gym at all, so I headed home with my mom.
As my night’s sleep really hadn’t been that relaxing, I went into complete sloth mode and slept the rest of the afternoon on a deck chair in the shade – it was a perfect Sunday afternoon…
