It’s December and I can officially start obsessing about all things Christmas. My tree is decorated, my candles are lit and Michael Bublé is playing on repeat – even at the office. Thank goodness my boss loves Christmas songs just as much as I do and so we can indulge in this little obsession together. I can honestly say that Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I just love all the fairy lights, decorations and the festive feeling that you get when you sit together with your friends and family – plus, the Christmas cookies aren’t bad either. The only thing that really stresses me out every year – and you might be able to relate here – is finding the right presents for all my loved ones. Gift giving is hard you guys!
This is why I decided to roam the internet to find a few things that I think would make awesome presents, in the hopes of maybe helping you out at the same time. So here we go…
My little gift guide can really be separated into four categories: gifts related to fashion – duh, I mean, it’s me putting this together – beauty products, food & beverage goodies and emotional or meaningful gifts.
Quite obviously, I had to bring in one of my favorite babies from De Marquet and so it is no wonder that the Night&Day bag has found its way into my Christmas gift guide. If you haven’t seen this transformation artist yet, let me tell you a little something about it now. It’s by a Swiss designer, which I – weirdly enough – work for and it has one amazing trick: you can exchange its covers and with that, you can create a new bag within seconds and go from casual to chic with literally two clicks!
There is such a wide variety of bases and covers to choose from and there are so many combinations to be made that I am sure you will find one that matches your loved one’s style. In case you are wondering how the Night&Day looks, I have styled it in quite a few outfit posts in the past, such as this cool “Prince de Galles” look here, this denim outfit here or this Santorini inspired look here. And I’m sure there will be more to come soon…
A few days ago, I was surfing on the Esprit website in order to put together my latest #LustList post, which you can find here, and I fell in love with a few pieces that unfortunately didn’t match my Winter Esprit look, but thankfully, I can now share them with you here. I especially love the “Oh Deer!!” sweater and the “More Glitter – More Party” dress, which both basically sum up my festive season perfectly!
When I was listing the items I wanted to incorporate in my Christmas gift guide, I knew that the “Peony & Blush Suede” fragrance by Jo Malone had to be on the list. I have been obsessed with this scent for months now and when I discovered that they also had a candle and a body & hand lotion with this smell, I fell in love immediately. I’m actually pretty sure I know what I will be gifting myself for Christmas this year…
FOOD & BEVERAGE
I personally love gifting delicious food or drinks, because who doesn’t love to receive a yummy treat?!? There are so many amazing delicacies out there and I personally love discovering local producers, such as the Sirupier de Berne, whose syrups are simply delicious! The Rose syrup is one of my personal favorites and an absolute must-try.
I have also heard of a distillery located in Bern that apparently makes amazing spirits and I’m sure there are many other creative businesses making delicious products in and around Bern – or your city – that are worth a try. So why not gift a delicious local product to one of your friends?
EMOTIONAL & MEANINGFUL GIFTS
Whether it is for a friend, a parent or another loved one, gifting something emotional or meaningful is obviously one of the most beautiful things you can do. I also believe it to be one of the hardest things to do, as it requires the most thought and effort. I wanted to find something that would put a smile on the face of whoever opens the gift and what better way to do this than by gifting memories?
I found two amazing gifts that I believe have the ability to be the bearer of such memories.
The first present I thought of while pondering emotional gifts was – quite obviously – pictures. Nothing conveys happy memories as much as a snapshot of an amazing time you experienced with your loved one. Whether this is in the form of a big poster, a picture book, a calendar or – like in my case – an iPhone cover, you choose!
I was surfing on the Colorfotoservice.ch website, when I saw that they offer the possibility to design your custom iPhone case, which just made me smile. I actually envisioned the face my best friend would make when she unpacks such a cheesy, but hilarious gift that commemorates all our crazy adventures together and I knew I had to put this into my gift guide. I actually kinda want to create one for myself now with all our summer escapades pictured on it – believe me, it would be a fun one!
The second emotional gift that I came up with is the scratch map, which allows the traveller to scratch off each country he or she has visited. I chose this particular item because not only do I love scratchy-thingies, but I also thoroughly enjoy travelling and being able to see what parts of the world I have discovered – or which parts are still awaiting my visit – is just amazing. I am pretty sure that most of my travel hungry friends would immediately start obsessively scratching off the countries, until they “catch them all”.
A category I haven’t touched on this time is technology, which can – of course – also offer a wide selection of amazing gifts. I had incorporated the Hyper Pearl Compact Mirror & USB Battery Pack in my 2016 Christmas Gift Guide, which you can find here and I still stand by my opinion. It’s such a handy gadget and I love mine dearly. It was obviously my present to myself last Christmas, I mean – you want it, you get it – am I right…? 😉
I hope you enjoyed this little gift guide and I wish you a wonderful Christmas time!
